THE INDY WORKER GUILD
The Indy Worker Guild is an organization made up of people who want freedom and flexibility at work, but also need financial security. Whether we get gigs from apps, from personal networks, or from temp agencies we all deserve to have a safety net when we need it—and we don't have one now. We are joining together to demand that our work be recognized and rewarded by policy makers and the companies making money from our work.
WE NEED ECONOMIC SECURITY
We like the autonomy of today's economy, but we need government and our employers to partner in helping us achieve economic security—and we understand that this may require both expanding existing programs like Social Security to cover new kinds of work, as well as developing new models that are created for the ways that work happens in the 21st century.
We believe that the time is ripe to radically improve the lives of people who work—whether we are part of the so-called "new" economy, as app-based workers, or are just scraping together a full-time living out of more than one part-time job.
